Still Reaching for all of Your Dreams

Words and Music by Mike Hersh

I.             When I look into a mirror after 40 years have gone

I see resemblance to the boy that once was,

With some curly hairs a memory, but

With eyes still rosy blue,

I am alive and well and still reaching for all of my dreams.

II.             With Viet Nam a bitter pill, how it changed all of our lives;

 Some went to college and some never did survive.

 But to those who tried to find themselves, who held to their ideals

 I tip my hat to you

 ‘Cause you’re still reaching for all of your dreams.

Br.      Some of us are doctors and lawyers and the rest;

          Some have worked our hands right to the marrow.

          Some have fought for causes and some have lost their heads,

          But we need no alibis, we are survivors.

III.            Have you thought of where you’re going; does it really frighten you.

 The milk and honey seemed to dry below our shoes,

 And we’ve tried so hard to change our lives,

 But I’ve got news for you.

 Look in the mirror, still reaching for all of your dreams.

          Some have worked our hands right to the marrow.

          Some have fought for causes and some have lost their heads,

          But we need no alibis, we are survivors, survivors.

IV.            Have you thought of where you’re going; does it really frighten you.

 The milk and honey seemed to dry below our shoes,

 And we’ve tried so hard to change our lives,

 But I’ve got news for you.

 Look in the mirror, still reaching for all of your dreams.

 Look in the mirror, still reaching for all of your dreams.  All of your
 dreams.
