MESSAGE FROM DAVID RUBIN
Greetings to my fellow graduates of 66. I’m sorry I won’t be able to be with you all at the 40th reunion, but that’s what I get for living in the Red state of Arizona. I am now in my 30th year of teaching high school. I teach seniors American Government. I can’t help but compare today’s kids to us 40 years ago. The similarities of being in a war culture again are amazing. I’m having fun telling the students what it was like in the old Vietnam days. I was quite naïve in high school. I remember being so proud that Worcester was an all American city. I remember criticizing Buzzy for being against the war, and even tearing an anti war bumper sticker off his car. Sorry! I don’t remember ever talking about the war in classes at Classical. I do remember Miss Shaughnessy lecturing us about how terrible it was that a speaker was interrupted by anti war activists. It wasn’t until I went to BU that I woke up and became an activist. I’m still causing trouble at my school but at least my students know about imperial wars. Well, we had some great times together that I wish could share with you all again. But it is not in the cards. Hopefully I can catch the next one. If anyone wishes to e-mail me please do, my address is dmmsrubin@hotmail.com. Fondly, David Rubin aka rip
