Life Lessons of CHS 1966 Graduates

Life Lessons

Live life by the ethical principle “The Golden Rule

Treat others the way you want to be treated

When the winds of change blow, adjust your sails

Life is what happens when you’re making plans

Stick to your principles

Cherish Life-every moment is a learning experience

Every breath is a miracle-revere it and honor the gift of life

I learned to worship myself by loving and honoring all people and animals for whom they are-not for how I want them to be

I discovered that the more aware and awake I became, the more grateful for the gift of life

Faith and trust in the unknown are vital for reaching a deep INNER PLACE of peace and joy

Play with the world-it’s an endless amusement park teeming with wild rides-and we get to decide which ones we will ride

Be fearless-stand up for what you believe and express it freely in all of your actions and words

Be open to new ideas and changes-for change is an integral part of life

The world is magnificently beautiful-if you take the time to notice

One thing I learned about life-you’re here for a good not a long time, so make the most out of what you can while you’re here

Give from your heart and flowers will blossom all around time, Bad things pass-try to be ‘awake’ and appreciate every day

Excellent to be gay

I did not want my children growing up in a household like the one I grew up in. I quit drinking and smoking and have been married to the same man for thirty years-for better or worse

I’ve learned that if you want something bad enough, you are willing to do just about anything to get it or make it happen

I have learned patience

Appreciate everything you have and live life to the fullest every day

Definitely NOT “stay the course” but rather be patient, things will get better-nothing stays the same for very long

Be in the moment-Be in the mystery-You sing on the air, not with the air

I’ve learned to let go of the past. I wake up every morning to find out what else there is to do

Always stay true to your beliefs and follow your instincts and you’ll never go wrong

Everyone has a story to tell that’s important to them-sometime it’s enough to listen

Pursue your passion; love everyone and your ‘self’ effusively; see your glass half full; embrace life, age and the world; smile in the face of ignorance

Let it go

Keep one foot in front of the other

Even falling down is a step forward

Meet the monster/face your fears

Laugh and the whole world laughs with you

Know yourself and be yourself

Can’t please all people all of the time

Speak your mind

It’s okay to march to a beat of a different drummer

Before action say to yourself, what GOOD will this do?

You are a precious part of a world mosaic

Keep your faith focused on Christ…in all thy ways

acknowledge Him and He will direct thy paths

Summed up in a Massahide quote: “Barn’s burnt down, now I can see the moon.”

Last year the Gulf Coast suffered two major hurricanes, Katrina and Rita.  We have been helping through our church in relief and helping rebuild homes.  We have learned how fortunate and blessed we are

Goals in life and business are important-“If you don’t know where you are going, anywhere will do” (variation of Alice speaking to the Cat from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland)

“We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them” Albert Einstein

The greatest challenge I’ve had to overcome was the death of my identical twin sister when we were 32 years old.  Naively, I had never once imagined my life without her.  I eventually decided I had a responsibility to live a life for the two of us.  That thought helped me to continue

In the words of Tim Gunn, “carry on”

Value each day given, to the best of my ability, and to hopefully enhance, at least for the moment, the lives of people I meet

I keep my late spouse in mind, and try to live a life of which he would be proud

Be thankful for my wonderful family and other friends

My life changed upon the loss of my Dad, a sibling and a dear friend.  They are still with me in spirit and help guide me. I try to get the most out of my life and each day I hold onto those I cherish and appreciate

My late friend Judy would want me to tell a humorous story at this point -likewhen we caused pandemonium in Miss Mullaney’s class at Chanlder Jr. High because we were giving a report about anartist and Judy referred to his mistress as his wife which made us go into convulsions of laughter and set off the whole class

One of the nice things about problems is that a good many of them do NOT exist, except in our imaginations

Be remembered for what you were, not for what you had

There is NO “one” right answer

You are not your job, but have fun in whatever you do
